An 89-year-old man has died after being trapped inside a house that caught fire at Aputuogya in Ghana's Ashanti Region, with firefighters recovering his body after extinguishing the blaze.
An 89-year-old man has died after becoming trapped inside a house during a fire at Aputuogya in Ghana's Ashanti Region.
The victim, identified as Kwaku Opoku, was found dead by firefighters after they brought the blaze under control.
The fire broke out at a five-bedroom house near God's Way Maternity Clinic, destroying two of the building's four self-contained bedrooms.
The property, owned by Ernest Boateng, was occupied by two families, according to reports.
Firefighters from the Regional Sub-Station and the KNUST Fire Station responded to the incident and used water to extinguish the flames.
Mr Opoku was unable to escape the fire and was found trapped inside the building.
The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
