    Clifford Braimah loses NPP Savannah chairmanship by four votes

    Former Ghana Water boss Clifford Braimah has narrowly lost the NPP Savannah Regional chairmanship to Iddrisu Sulemana, who won by just four votes in a closely contested party election.

    Former Ghana Water Limited managing director Clifford Abdallah Braimah has narrowly lost the NPP Savannah Regional chairmanship, securing 88 votes against Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana's 92.

    Dr Braimah was defeated by just four votes in the New Patriotic Party's regional executive elections held on Saturday, August 15.

    The closely fought contest saw both candidates secure substantial support from delegates, with Mr Sulemana emerging as the new chairman of the NPP in the Savannah Region.

    He will lead the party's regional organisation as the opposition NPP seeks to rebuild its structures ahead of the 2028 general election.

    Other results

    Aboagye Kwame was elected first vice-chairman after receiving 124 votes, defeating Alhaji Braimah Adam, who polled 54.

    Johnson Kwame Gyinde won the second vice-chairmanship with 120 votes, while Mahama S Mumuni Akotia received 60.

    Seidu Ayuba narrowly won the secretary position with 91 votes, beating Mohammed Issah by two votes.

    Sulemana Aminu Mayoyo was elected deputy secretary with 83 votes, despite Sumani Inusah receiving 97.

    Raphael Mahama Akati was elected regional organiser unopposed.

    Ali Abubakar won the treasurer position with 106 votes against Abu Lutie's 74.

    Mohammed Fatahia was elected women's organiser with 91 votes, ahead of Losina Barikisu on 48 and Mahama

    Sheila Hanatu on 41.

    Mohammed Shiraz-Deen won the communications officer position with 60 votes.

    Alpha Omar Yakubu was elected Nasara organiser with 95 votes, while Adam Mohammed Mansuru won the youth organiser position with 97 votes.

    The new executives will be responsible for leading the NPP's activities in the Savannah Region as the party prepares for the 2028 election.
