FBI says Ghana scam operation linked to nearly $10m in losses dismantled
FBI Director Kash Patel says more than 130 people have been arrested or detained in connection with the operation. He described the crackdown as part of Operation Blackout, targeting transnational fraud networks.
A scam operation in Ghana linked to nearly US$10 million in identified losses has been dismantled, according to FBI Director Kash Patel.
In a post on X on Thursday, October 8, Patel said 89 victims had been identified so far and more than 130 people had been arrested or detained.
He said the Ghana operation formed part of the bureau’s global Operation Blackout, which targets transnational fraud networks.
The figures represent the losses and victims identified so far, according to Patel’s account.
