Former MASLOC CEO Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu set free from prison custody

Former MASLOC CEO Christine Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu has been released from Nsawam Prisons' custody after she was acquitted and discharged by the Court of Appeal on July 30.

She was released in the afternoon. 3news can confirm that Mrs Tamakloe-Attionu is currently with her family.

Earlier on Wednesday, August 12, the Court of Appeal struck out as withdrawn, the application by the Attorney-General seeking to halt the release of Sedina from prison custody after the office withdrew the motion.

Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu was acquitted and discharged by the Court of Appeal after it held that she had been wrongly convicted in April 2024.

State prosecutors on Wednesday, August 12, informed the court of a notice of withdrawal filed on August 10 after filing the application to stay the execution last month.

But the lawyer for the former MASLOC CEO, represented by Sidney Antonio, indicated that although he did not oppose the notice of withdrawal, prosecutors ought to have sought leave of the court before proceeding to withdraw since the case had been adjourned for ruling.

After hearing the submission, the court then struck out the application as withdrawn.

The release warrant was subsequently signed after the withdrawal of the application to stay execution and served on prison officers.

Meanwhile, the Attorney-General has indicated that he will file the application for a stay of execution at the Supreme Court.

Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu was convicted in absentia by the Accra High Court and sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment after being found guilty of offences including causing financial loss to the state.
