Ghana fuel supply: CBOD assures no queues or shortages through December
The Chief Executive of the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors says cargo arrangements have been secured through December, easing concerns about possible fuel shortages and long queues at filling stations.
Ghana is not expected to experience fuel queues through December, the Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD), Dr Patrick Kwaku Ofori, has assured.
He says cargo arrangements have been secured to ensure a continuous supply of petroleum products to consumers and oil marketing companies over the coming weeks.
Speaking on Joy News, monitored by The Executive Spotlight on Thursday October 29, Dr Ofori said the arrangements would protect Ghana against supply disruptions and shortages being experienced in other markets.
“And we can also assure the consuming public and our partners, the oil marketing companies, that supply will never be an issue,” he said.
Dr Ofori said the necessary cargoes had already been secured through December, giving the industry confidence that fuel availability would be maintained.
“We can confidently say that by the end, up till now, till December, we're going to have all the cargo locked in,” he added.
He expressed confidence that the deliveries would arrive safely and prevent the queues at fuel stations that typically emerge when supply becomes constrained.
The assurance is significant for motorists, transport operators, businesses and households that depend on a consistent supply of petrol and diesel.
Fuel supply disruptions can affect transportation costs, business operations and the movement of goods, making the availability of petroleum products an important concern for the wider economy.
For now, the CBOD chief says Ghana has secured the necessary supplies to meet demand through December, with consumers expected to continue accessing fuel without disruption.
