Government imposes curfew in Nkwanta South following security concerns
The government has imposed a curfew on several communities in the Nkwanta South Municipality in the Oti Region following advice from the National Security Council.
The restrictions, announced by the Minister for the Interior through an Executive Instrument, took effect on Friday and will remain in force from 17:00 to 06:00 each day.
The curfew affects the communities of Keri, Abrewanko, Abrewanko Junction, Nyambo, Nyambo Junction, Shari, Kromase, Power, Nyakoma, Odomi, Bonakye and Nkwanta.
In a statement, the government called on chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth groups and residents to remain calm and cooperate with efforts to restore and maintain peace in the area.
Authorities also urged community members to pursue their grievances through peaceful and lawful means, stressing the need for dialogue and restraint to ensure long-term stability in the municipality.
