Government opens CSSPS self-placement to 53,887 Grade Nine BECE candidates
Affected candidates may now select available schools and programmes through the CSSPS
The government has opened the Computerised School Selection and Placement System to 53,887 BECE candidates who were initially ineligible for placement after scoring Grade Nine in English Language, Mathematics or both subjects.
The affected candidates will now be allowed to use the CSSPS self-placement portal to select available senior high schools and programmes for admission.
Deputy Education Minister Dr Clement Apaak announced the decision at a press conference in Accra on Monday.
“To candidates who obtained a score of nine in English Language or Mathematics or in both subjects, the government is providing you with an opportunity to participate in the self-placement,” he said.
“We encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity and continue your education journey.”
The decision gives the 53,887 Basic Education Certificate Examination graduates another opportunity to enter second-cycle education despite falling outside the original selection criteria.
Under self-placement, candidates are expected to choose from schools and programmes with available vacancies on the CSSPS.
