Manhyia South MP declines EOCO request at Accra court
A video circulating on social media shows a woman identifying herself as an EOCO officer asking Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah to accompany her.
It remains unclear whether the MP had been formally invited for questioning.
Officers of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) approached Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah at the Accra High Court on Wednesday in an encounter reportedly linked to an investigation involving the Ghana Jollof TikTok account.
In a video reported by Citi News, a woman identifying herself as an EOCO officer asks the MP to accompany her to the office. He declines and is later seen driving away, with officers following his vehicle. The available account
does not establish what happened next.
Sources close to the MP told journalists at the scene that EOCO officers had approached him over claims he had ignored invitations to assist with the investigation. They disputed those claims, saying he had received no invitation.
They also alleged that the officers’ aim was to silence the MP over his public defence of Salomey Baffoe, who is alleged to be an accomplice of the person behind the Ghana Jollof account.
It remains unclear whether the MP was formally invited for questioning, why officers approached him at the court, or whether they intended to arrest him.
