MTN Ghana Reports 22% Revenue Growth Driven by Mobile Money Surge

MTN Ghana has reported revenue of GH₵4.2 billion for Q1 2026, a 22% year-on-year increase driven by exceptional growth in its Mobile Money (MoMo) division. The company said MoMo transaction values exceeded GH₵100 billion for the first time in a single quarter.

CEO Selorm Adadevoh attributed the growth to deepening financial inclusion and the rollout of MoMo's merchant payment and nano-loan features. "We're not just a telco anymore — we are a fintech platform serving millions of unbanked Ghanaians," he told analysts.

Data revenue also grew 28%, supported by 4G network expansion into 85% of district capitals. The company warned, however, that the proposed 2% telco levy could dampen growth in the second half.
