NPP regional elections: Afenyo-Markin urges candidates to maintain peaceful process
NPP Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has called on candidates and delegates to preserve the calm atmosphere at the party's regional elections, describing the exercise as a "family affair" free from violence.
The Minority Leader of parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has urged candidates and delegates taking part in the party's regional executive elections to respect one another and maintain the peaceful atmosphere.
The MP for Effutu said the elections had so far been conducted without violence, with candidates given the opportunity to campaign and delegates free to choose their preferred candidates.
Speaking to the media in Mankessim, where the NPP's Central Regional elections are being held, Mr Afenyo-Markin described the exercise as a "family affair".
"So far so good. A very peaceful atmosphere. Candidates are campaigning. It's a family affair. No violence. Mutual respect. That is the beauty of it," he said.
He said the results should reflect the efforts of the candidates and the choices made by delegates.
Mr Afenyo-Markin called on all participants to continue showing restraint and respecting one another as the party completes its regional-level elections.
The NPP is holding regional elections as part of its preparations for the 2028 general election and efforts to strengthen its structures following its defeat in the 2024 polls.
