NPP regional elections: Full list of newly elected chairmen

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected new regional chairmen as it begins reorganising its structures ahead of Ghana's 2028 general elections.

The elections were held across the country on Saturday, with several of the contests for the chairmanship ending in closely fought races.

Provisional results declared by Electoral Commission officials who supervised the polls show that the following candidates have been elected regional chairmen:

    • Western: Ignatius Kwesi Afrifa

    • Savannah: Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana

    • Bono: Kwame Baffoe Abronye

    • Greater Accra: Dr Bernard Okoe Boye

    • Ashanti: Odeneho Kwaku Appiah

    • Eastern: Jeff Konadu Addo

    • Central: Joseph Kobinah Esibu

    • Ahafo: Robert Sarfo Mensah

    • Northern: Mohammed Baatima Adam (Samba)

    • North East: Alhaji Mohammed Fuseini

    • Upper East: Elvis Figo Awonekai

    • Upper West: Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman

    • Volta: Makafui Kofi Woanyah

    • Oti: Dr Frank Yirenkyi

    • Bono East: Ibrahim Bukari Baba

The result for Western North Region was still pending at the time of reporting.

The regional elections are part of the NPP's efforts to rebuild its grassroots structures following its defeat in the 2024 general election.

The party is seeking to strengthen its organisation at regional and constituency levels as it prepares for the next general election in 2028.

The newly elected chairmen and other regional executives are expected to oversee mobilisation, grassroots reorganisation and preparations for the party's future electoral campaigns.

The NPP has yet to announce the final, certified results for all the regions.
