The 47-year-old woman is accused of leading the principal suspect to the victims' residence, where George Atuguba and his niece Irene were killed. Police are appealing for information to help locate the wanted suspect.
The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 47-year-old woman in connection with the killing of two relatives at Sakumono in the Greater Accra Region and offered a GH¢100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the principal suspect.
The woman, identified as Beatrice Mumuni, is believed by police to have led Samuel Christopher Osei Anto to the residence of the victims before the killings.
Osei Anto has been declared wanted to assist investigations, with police appealing to the public to provide credible information about his whereabouts.
The victims, George Atuguba, 57, and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atuguba, were killed at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, on Friday, October 30, 2026.
Police appeal for information
In a statement announcing the arrest, police urged anyone with information that could lead to Osei Anto's arrest to report to the nearest police station.
The public can also contact the Police Service through its emergency numbers, 191 and 18555.
The GH¢100,000 reward is being offered for credible information leading to the wanted suspect's arrest.
GH¢500,000 debt dispute under investigation
The arrest follows preliminary police findings that the killings may have been triggered by a financial disagreement involving an alleged GH¢500,000 debt owed by George Atuguba.
Police had earlier said Osei Anto reportedly visited the victims' residence with Mumuni to demand repayment of the money.
A misunderstanding allegedly developed during the encounter, after which the two relatives were shot.
The precise circumstances surrounding the incident, including the events leading to the shootings, remain under investigation.
