Six arrested after former MP Adwoa Safo shot in Kwabenya
The Ghana Police Service says it has arrested six private security guards in connection with a shooting incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, in Kwabenya on 21 June 2026.

In a statement, police said a subsequent search operation led to the recovery of five pump-action guns, a Taurus pistol loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, an additional magazine containing five rounds of 9mm ammunition, and communication equipment.
According to the police, officers from the National Operations Directorate and the Intelligence Directorate were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call from a residence in Kwabenya.
Preliminary investigations suggest that a ceremony was taking place at the residence of Mr Tamakloe Safo Jehoshaphat, also known as Akofena, when Ms Safo arrived and sought entry to the premises but was denied access.
Police said further inquiries indicate that armed security personnel at the residence allegedly discharged firearms during the incident.
Ms Safo was reportedly injured in the shooting, while her vehicle sustained multiple gunshot impacts.
The six suspects remain in police custody assisting with investigations.
The Ghana Police Service said inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
