Teacher goes into hiding after viral video allegedly shows misconduct with student

Ghana's Education Ministry has appealed to the public for help in locating a teacher who is alleged to have engaged in sexual misconduct with a student at Bole Senior High School, after a video of the incident circulated widely on social media.

Deputy Education Minister Dr Clement Apaak said authorities believed the teacher had gone into hiding as investigations intensified.

The alleged incident, which is said to have taken place in the school's science laboratory, has triggered public outrage and renewed concerns about student safety in educational institutions.

"Our checks indicate that the teacher has gone into hiding," Dr Apaak said.

"We know that law enforcement is also playing its part, and he is being sought after. If Ghanaians can assist law enforcement to apprehend him, it would be very helpful."

The Ministry of Education said it was treating the case as a matter of urgency and was working with security agencies to locate the teacher.

Dr Apaak said the individual would face both criminal investigations and disciplinary action by the Ghana Education Service (GES) if the allegations are substantiated.

The case emerged after a video, which allegedly shows the teacher involved in inappropriate conduct with a student, began circulating online.

The incident has prompted calls from parents, child protection advocates and members of the public for swift action against anyone found responsible.

Dr Apaak said the government remained committed to protecting students and ensuring schools remained safe environments for learning.

He stressed that misconduct involving students would not be tolerated.

The Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that appropriate action will be taken once the facts of the case have been established.

The incident has also reignited debate about safeguarding measures in schools and the need for stronger protections against abuse and exploitation of learners.
