Tema Free Zone Attracts $200M in New Manufacturing Investments
Five new factories set to create 3,000 jobs as Ghana positions itself as West Africa's manufacturing hub.
The Ghana Free Zones Authority has announced $200 million in new manufacturing investments for the Tema Free Zone enclave, with commitments from firms in automotive assembly, pharmaceuticals, and consumer electronics.
Executive Secretary Michael Okyere Baafi said five new factories will begin construction before the end of Q2, creating approximately 3,000 direct jobs. "We are seeing a real shift in investor sentiment towards Ghana as a manufacturing destination," he said.
Notable investments include a $60 million vehicle assembly plant by a consortium of Indian and South African investors, and a $45 million generic pharmaceuticals facility backed by the African Development Bank.
