Three arrested in Ghana over alleged links to ‘Bolle Jos’ drug network
Ghana’s Narcotics Control Commission says the three are suspected of facilitating a trafficking network allegedly linked to a cocaine shipment seized by French customs.
The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) says it has arrested three people suspected of representing and facilitating the activities of a drug-trafficking network associated with Dutch fugitive Jos Leijdekkers, known as “Bolle Jos”.
The arrests followed the reported seizure of a cocaine shipment by French customs. NACOC said the shipment was allegedly linked to a wider network, but did not give its size, say when or where it was intercepted, or explain how investigators connected it to the suspects.
The three people are in NACOC custody and are assisting investigators, the commission said in a statement dated 14 September 2026. It has not named them or announced any charges.
The commission described their suspected roles as allegations. Its statement did not say whether Leijdekkers was involved in the shipment or whether he is in Ghana.
NACOC said it would continue working with law-enforcement partners in Ghana and abroad to investigate the people, finances and infrastructure behind illicit drug trafficking. It said the rights and legal protections of those under investigation would be safeguarded.
The next question is what evidence investigators have linking the suspects to the alleged network and the shipment seized by French customs. NACOC has not said when it expects to provide a further update.
