Update: Two gunned down, one arrested as police foil multi-bank robbery attempt in Labone
The Ghana Police Service has successfully foiled a coordinated daylight robbery attempt targeting multiple financial institutions in the upscale Labone suburb of Accra.

During the swift counter-operation on Thursday, August 13, 2026, police officers gunned down two suspected armed robbers and took a third suspect into custody.
According to an official police statement, law enforcement received actionable intelligence at approximately 10:45 a.m. indicating that a criminal syndicate was positioning itself to target branches of GCB Bank, Ecobank, and Zenith Bank located within Labone.
A specialized police response team was immediately dispatched to the area, where they spotted the suspects sitting inside suspicious vehicles parked close to the targeted financial institutions.
