WAEC releases 2026 WASSCE results for more than 512,000 candidates

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates.

A total of 512,862 candidates from 1,022 schools entered the examination, comprising 225,270 males and 287,592 females.

The number of candidates represents an 11.07% increase over the 461,736 candidates who entered the school examination in 2025.

WAEC said 5,049 candidates, representing 0.98% of the total entry, were absent from the examination.

The Council has hosted the results online and will provide heads of schools with login details to access the results of their candidates.

Individual candidates who want to check their results can also do so through WAEC’s official website.

WAEC warns candidates against result scams

WAEC has cautioned candidates, parents and the public against individuals who claim they can upgrade examination results in exchange for money.

The Council said its examination results are secured and can be authenticated through its results verification system.

Candidates and other stakeholders can also use the WAEC QR code to check the authenticity of results presented to them.

WAEC urged the public to disregard promises by individuals who claim they can alter or improve candidates’ grades.

The warning comes as candidates begin accessing results that could influence their admission to universities, colleges and other tertiary institutions.

However, WAEC’s statement, as provided, does not include a breakdown of candidates’ performance in the core and elective subjects. It also does not indicate whether any results have been withheld or cancelled over alleged examination malpractice.
