Water cuts to hit East Legon, Adenta, Madina as Ghana Water shuts Dodowa station for 24 hours

Thousands of households and businesses across parts of Greater Accra will face a 24-hour interruption in water supply from Thursday after Ghana Water Limited announced the temporary shutdown of its Dodowa Booster Station for scheduled maintenance.

The company said the shutdown, which begins on Thursday, July 9, 2026, is to allow engineers to carry out maintenance works aimed at improving the efficiency and reliability of the water supply system.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Ghana Water said customers supplied by the Dodowa Booster Station should expect either a complete interruption of water supply or reduced water pressure throughout the exercise.

The affected communities include East Legon, Adjiringanor, Ashaley Botwe, Madina, Adenta, Oyarifa, Frafraha, Agbogba, Haatso, Atomic, Ashongman, Dome and Dodowa, as well as surrounding areas served by the station.

The utility company urged residents and businesses in the affected areas to store enough water before the shutdown and use available supplies sparingly during the maintenance period.

It assured customers that engineers would work around the clock to complete the exercise within the scheduled 24 hours and restore normal water supply as soon as possible.

Ghana Water apologised for the inconvenience and appealed to customers for patience and cooperation while the maintenance works are carried out.

The planned shutdown comes as demand for water continues to rise across the rapidly expanding eastern corridor of Greater Accra, where communities rely heavily on the Dodowa Booster Station for daily water supply.
