Former Ghanaian lawmaker Sarah Adwoa Safo may be flown abroad for further medical treatment after undergoing two surgeries following a reported shooting incident, according to her aide.
Dr Emmanuel Y. Boakye, a special assistant to the former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, said Ms Safo is receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra after sustaining injuries amid an ongoing succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo Mission, following the death of its founder, Apostle Professor Kwadwo Safo, in September 2025.
Speaking on Akoma FM, Dr Boakye said the former legislator had undergone two surgical procedures and could be transferred overseas for specialist care.
"Adwoa has undergone two surgeries and is expected to be flown abroad for further treatment to prevent further damage to her face," he said.
He did not disclose the nature of the injuries in detail or indicate where any further treatment might take place.
According to earlier statements from members of the Safo family, Ms Safo was at a property linked to her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, to serve a court injunction when the
incident occurred.
The family has alleged that gunshots were fired during a confrontation at the premises. Those claims have not been independently verified and remain the subject of a police investigation.
The Ghana Police Service has since arrested three suspects, including Israel Safo, in connection with the incident. Police say investigations are ongoing and the suspects are assisting with inquiries.
Authorities have not yet released detailed information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting or the extent of Ms Safo's injuries.
The case has attracted significant public attention in Ghana, given the high-profile nature of the succession dispute and Ms Safo's prominent role in national politics.
Further updates are expected as police continue their investigation and medical officials provide additional information on her condition.
