Court halts NPP elections in Tarkwa-Nsuaem over injunction
The Sekondi High Court has placed an interim injunction on the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Electoral Area Elections in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency, effectively halting the exercise scheduled for Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
The order, issued on June 9, 2026, followed an ex parte application filed by Andrews Adade of Kwabedu in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem area.
The court, presided over by Justice [not stated in record], granted the application after hearing submissions from counsel for the plaintiff, Dennis Adjei Dwomoh and Agya Yaw Nsiah Agyemang.
The injunction restrains the defendants, including members of the Polling Station Election Committee, their agents, representatives and any persons acting on their behalf, from proceeding with, organising, conducting, supervising or declaring results of the
Electoral Area Elections in the constituency.
The court further directed that no results arising from the electoral process should be recognised or implemented pending the determination of the substantive matter or any agreed settlement between the parties.
According to the ruling, the interim injunction shall remain in force for 10 days unless extended upon application by the parties.
The order, issued under the seal of the High Court and signed by Registrar Sandra Komfo, effectively suspends all electoral activities linked to the NPP internal elections in Tarkwa-Nsuaem until further notice from the court.
The case is expected to be heard further in the coming days.
