The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced planned power interruptions in parts of the Central and Accra East regions on Thursday, while engineers continue efforts to restore electricity to several communities in the Tema area affected by network faults.
In a notice to customers, ECG said the scheduled outages are necessary to allow maintenance work aimed at improving the reliability of electricity supply.
In the Central Region, power will be interrupted between 09:00 and 16:00 GMT in a number of communities, including Brimso Headworks, Akaikrom, Police Barrier, Ankaful Junction, Mpeasem, WAEC, Wanyiwato, Ankaful Prisons and Ankaful Township.
A separate maintenance exercise will affect Ayensodo, Kissi, Komenda, Sefwi Town, Dominase, Sekyere Hemang, Attabadze Town, Brenu Akyim, Eduagyei, Sanka, Bronyibima and Akwanda during the same period.
Meanwhile, customers in parts of the Accra East Region will experience power cuts from 09:00 to 17:00 GMT. The affected areas include Tseaddo Goil Filling Station, Tseaddo Royal Mart, West Trassaco, Trassaco Phase Two, Salem Estates and parts of School Junction.
The latest exercise comes just a day after a similar maintenance operation disrupted power supply to some of the same communities.
Separately, ECG said several communities in the Tema Region remain without electricity because of network faults.
Areas affected by one of the faults include Bel Acqua, Olam Grains, Ghana Steel, Star Cement, Kpone, Communities 25 and 26, Afienya Zongo, Zenu, Atadeka and parts of the surrounding enclave.
A second fault has disrupted supply to Mobole, Afienya, Mataheko, Emmanuel Estates, Odumse, Christian International School, Shai Hills Military Training Camp, Bright Cement, Eastern Quarries, Twin Quarries and nearby communities.
ECG said engineers had been deployed to resolve the faults and restore power as quickly as possible.
The company apologised for the inconvenience caused and appealed to customers in affected areas to remain patient while maintenance work and repair efforts continue.
It said the interventions are intended to improve the stability and reliability of electricity supply over the longer term.
