The government has confirmed the retirement of Samuel Tettey, Deputy Commissioner of Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) in charge of Corporate Services, with steps underway to appoint a replacement.

Government Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu made the announcement on Monday, June 15, at a press briefing, saying the necessary constitutional procedures to fill the vacancy had already begun.

He said a nominee had been submitted to the Council of State for consideration.

“I can confirm that EC Deputy Commissioner Samuel Tettey has retired, and processes are underway for his replacement. Indeed, a name has been submitted to the Council of State, and they are considering the person,” Mr Kwakye Ofosu said.

The Electoral Commission has not yet publicly announced who will succeed him.

The EC Deputy Commissioner in charge of Corporate Services plays a key administrative role within Ghana’s electoral management body, overseeing internal operations and support services.
